Walking SA - Bushwalk Guide – Daywalk
This accreditation is designed to meet the Australian Adventure Activity Standards (AAAS) and the bushwalking community standards and is developed by highly trained, experienced bushwalking trainers and assessors currently working in the outdoors.
The accreditation is designed for anyone who wishes to gain a qualification to lead groups of bushwalkers on day walks on marked trails for schools, tour groups, special interest groups and clubs to the highest standards. It is also suitable for anyone wishing to increase their personal skills.
Learn the basics of leadership and management skills to keep groups safe. Learn the basics of navigation: use a map and compass to understand topography, positioning and locations. Develop trip planning skills, incident and risk management skills and understanding. Learn basic weather interpretation, leave no trace principles and how clubs and organisations run their day walks.
4 days training, 1 day assessment (see assessment below) 5 days total.
Self Paced element: 5 different day walk experiences to be completed after training and before assessment. These to include a walk with a Walking SA Bushwalking club, a day with a Friends of Parks and Nature Group, max one walk with own cohort. We can assist with leads to get onto walks.
